Queens Award for Voluntary Service
Established to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Jubilee in 2002, the Queens Award for Voluntary Service is a national honour for small, community based volunteer involving groups. Get2thepoint was engaged by the Cabinet Office in autumn 2006 to look back at what had happened since the Award was set up and on the basis of these observations to make recommendations for improvement.

Rachel Youngman and Martin Farrell completed the review in April 2007 and its was approved by the Cabinet Office. Because of the Nature of the Award, it was then submitted for approval by the Palace. The Queen approved the Review in July 2007 and shortly thereafter Rachel and Martin presented its findings and recommendations to the AGM of the Lord Lieutenants in St James’ Palace.

When, in summer get2thepoint was re-engaged to implement its own recommendations, the focus shifted to future, with a two year horizon to mid 2009 – by which time all recommendations will have been implemented and this national honour will be established as the benchmark award for excellence in volunteering.
