In 2002 Exel plc (now part
of DHL) was considering how to integrate its community investment programme
in the 120 countries it was then operating in – what long term direction should they take which would be congruent
with the company’s values and make business sense? Martin Farrell
undertook a strategic review, interviewing some 45 respondents in the
UK and worldwide and made recommendations which were subsequently accepted
by the Board
