Sally DownsOn the main stage
Sally Downs
Sally spent many years in local government and in consultancy for a wide range of public bodies, including central and local government, and NGOs. She worked in the fields of town planning, regeneration and environment. Her focus was on policy development, advice and programme evaluations, but she also found time to devise approaches to consultation and to partnership working.

Sally now operates as an independent consultant, mainly in collaborative teams. She is still heavily involved in evaluation, but seeks out work which utilises her people skills. Her ideal jobs involve face to face contact – with community groups working to implement long held ambitions, with staff teams involved in reaching out to people making use of their services, and funders trying to understand how they can get better value from the money they provide.

She still does policy development and advice, evaluations, and support on devising approaches to consultation and to partnership working for the public and third sectors. Her question is always, “are there better ways of doing this so that everyone benefits?”.
