On
the main stage
Priya Lukka
At 27, Priya has worked for a range of different charities through carrying
out research, evaluations and consultancies. Her work has involved working
on volunteering projects in Brazil, Lebanon, Russia and Paris. She enjoys
the challenge of helping charities to work more effectively and achieve
new heights in their work.
Priya’s interest in charities first started in 1997 when fresh out university she started volunteering for a international development charity SkillShare International to pass the time whilst looking for a job. Since then she has learnt a lot from seeing how things work- from the local grassroots level to large mainstream charities. Priya has applied this learning to carrying out surveys, focus groups, interviews, case studies and organisational reviews for different charities.
She has also been part of teams evaluating large volunteering initiatives like the Government’s Millennium Volunteers programme and other consultancies for the Department for International Development, RNIB and The British Heart Foundation.
Priya has also worked in economic policy-making (at The Confederation of British Industry) and having been a researcher at the Institute for Volunteering Research now (from January 2003) works in science policy.
Priya’s broad range of experiences, helps her to think creatively and
with energy about anything to do with social value and community needs![]()
